Keiji Takeuchi

Keiji Takeuchi was born in Fukuoka, Japan, and spent much of his youth in New Zealand. He studied on a scholarship at ENSCI/Les Ateliers in Paris and, after earning a degree in product design in New Zealand, returned to Japan to work with Naoto Fukasawa. In 2012, he moved to Milan and founded his own design studio in 2015. The following year, he received the Japanese Young Talent Award from Elle Decor Japan.

Takeuchi’s design vision is deeply international and multicultural, focusing on essentiality and the human quality of products, creating a natural dialogue between objects and everyday life. His borderless approach has led to collaborations with numerous international brands, including MillerKnoll (USA), Fredericia (Denmark), Nine (UK), Boffi De Padova (Italy), Karimoku (Japan), and the artistic direction of the brand aru.

He has participated in projects such as Social Seating at the 1st Fiskars Art and Design Biennale (2019), exhibited in Stars of Today at Superstudio during Salone del Mobile 2023, and curated Walking Sticks & Canes at Triennale Milano during Milan Design Week 2024—his first exhibition as curator. The show received international acclaim and has already traveled to locations including Karimoku Commons Tokyo and Emeco House in Venice, California, with further tours planned. Recently, he co-authored the book Walking Sticks with Marco Sammicheli, published by Lars Müller Publishers.
