At the end of the 19th century, an elegant fishing boat was moored on the rock. During the "Belle Époque," guests could eat and drink tea perched six meters above the waves. This restaurant, connected by a walkway to a picturesque gazebo typical of the era on the French Riviera, soon became the emblem of the city of Nice.
Following damage to the fishing boat, architect René Livieri was tasked in 1941 with giving new life to the site, leading to the creation of diving platforms on the sea side with a beach restaurant replacing the gazebo.
