Sale e Pepe Mare
PROJECT : Sale e Pepe Mare at The Langham
LOCATION : London
CATEGORY: Terrace
YEAR: 2026
The timeless elegance of the Italian Riviera meets the historic charm of the British capital. Tucked away in the courtyard of The Langham, London, the Terrazza Sale e Pepe Mare opens its doors in collaboration with The Sleff Group: an oasis of over 460 sqm (5,000 square feet) created to celebrate the art of outdoor living. It is Unopiù's latest contract project, a tangible example of how Italian outdoor design can reinterpret a historic space and transform it into a contemporary summer retreat.
The Project: An Outdoor Space Tailored for Luxury Hospitality
For a demanding setting such as an iconic hotel in the heart of London, the design brief was clear: create a space able to host relaxed lunches, sunset aperitifs and convivial moments, while maintaining an aesthetic language consistent with the identity of the place. The courtyard of The Langham, entirely reimagined across more than 460 sqm, becomes a summer terrace that unites Mediterranean atmosphere with a British architectural setting of great historic value — an emblematic case of how a well-executed contract project enhances both the space and the brand that hosts it.
The initiative was born from the collaboration between Unopiù, The Sleff Group and St-Germain Drinks, a partnership between furniture, hospitality and mixology designed to offer guests a complete summer experience, from sun-drenched lunches to the signature St-Germain spritz at sunset.
The Salò and Igea Collections Take Center Stage
To furnish this iconic courtyard, Unopiù chose the timeless comfort and essential lines of the Salò and Igea collections, both designed by Matteo Thun and Benedetto Fasciana. Sofas, armchairs, tables and seating — including chairs and bar stools — make up the terrace furnishings, echoing the same balance of formal lightness and enveloping comfort that has defined the collection since its debut.
Inspired by the lake landscapes of Northern Italy, Salò was conceived as a stylistic all-rounder: an ultra-light aluminium frame, ergonomic padding and premium outdoor fabrics come together in a system of seating and tables able to adapt naturally to both residential settings and high-profile contract projects, as its application at The Langham clearly demonstrates. The collection's tones — terracotta, graphite, sage and sand — engage with the light and materials of the space, helping define a sober, contemporary and recognisable aesthetic.
A contract project of this kind highlights the qualities that make Salò a solid choice for hospitality too: stackable pieces for flexible space management, materials designed to withstand intensive use and outdoor conditions, and an aesthetic language able to adapt to different contexts without losing its identity.
